Cleaning and Proper Disinfection

There have been plenty daily cases of Covid-19 rising in almost half of the states of the US. Nevertheless, people are going back to restaurants and into places like parks or museums. However, even if you plan to go into shops, restaurants, bars, etc. you should always keep safety protocols in mind. Always continue with the social distancing, use masks, and maintain cleaning habits. Some cleaning habits you should carry out include:

Washing and moisturizing your hands

Wash your hands after touching anything, coughing, sneezing, or when you are leaving a place. It is preferable to wash your hands anywhere and at any time since you definitely might have been in contact with something when you leave your home. Now we know that getting Covid-19 by touching a surface is not that much of a threat but that does not mean it does not have any risks.

A tip is to carry hand sanitizer with you everywhere you go. It is a fast-cleaning method but let us not mistake it as a substitution method for washing your hands. Soap and water can wash any pathogens away. There is a specific procedure to washing your hands in 20 seconds effectively. You can read about it here.

Now, moisturizing may seem silly, but it is very important to take in into account. Dry skin has a higher risk of infection so try to carry around your small bottle of lotion as well.

Get a Cloth Face Mask

Some measures of the CDC recommend that people wear a cloth face mask in public. It can protect others if you happen to carry around the disease (with which we recommend you stay at home). Some people may have mild symptoms or even none at all. That is why it’s very dangerous to even consider going out. Our recommendation is to only go out if completely necessary. Try to stay at home and not put yourself at risk.

Clean and Disinfect your home

Even though picking up the virus by being in contact with surfaces is unlikely, the CDC still recommends disinfecting surfaces once a day, especially when people have been constantly in contact with them. The virus is capable of living on surfaces, so it is best to be thorough.

Clean hard surfaces

Clean places such as tables, light switches, desks, phones, faucets, sinks, etc. These tend to be frequently touched and thus are ideal candidates for disinfection. Make sure to wear gloves. Use water and soap before proceeding with certain areas if they are visibly dirty. Afterwards you can use a disinfectant to kill germs. It is preferable to leave the disinfectant for a minute or so and then wiping it off.

Clean soft surfaces

Launder your sheets, clothing, pillows, and even plush toys more often. In this case, it is good to use warm water to prevent any infection. Always wear disposable gloves. After your finished hanging them or drying them, remove your gloves and wash your hands immediately.

Clean your electronics

We tend to forget these, but you frequently touch electronics around you like your phone, tablet, computer, etc. You can clean these by using alcohol-based wipes or an alcohol spray. You can put a wipeable cover on whichever electronic you are going to disinfect and prevent any damage. Make sure to pay special mind to the screen, buttons and wherever dust could be accumulated. Also, do not forget your cases. Remove the case and clean it on the inside and outside. Then you can put it back on.

Do not use the wipes on your computer. It can cause damage on the screen. Try using a soft towel and isopropyl alcohol. Wipe your keyboard, trackpad, and where you rest your hands.

At this point, it is better to stay home and avoid going out as much as possible. Go out only if necessary and if you do, do not forget safety protocols. Make sure to remain well-informed on new protocols you should carry out. Try to stay alert and keep yourself as well as your families safe. We know that people are starting to go out again and you might be tempted as well, but you must not forget that the virus is not less dangerous than what it was a few months ago. Be smart and stay healthy.
