Cleaning your home

Cleaning your home every week

We know that your cleaning routine might change from time to time depending on the situation. However, we know that cleaning your home every week is better and here is why.

One of the things you should always consider is your health. Your health could be at stake whenever you do not clean your home thoroughly. You could even confirm this by taking a microscope and looking around on your surfaces. Bacteria and viruses tend to invade our space most of the time. Also, their life span depends greatly on which kind of virus they are. That is why it might be best to stick to weekly cleaning routines for a change.

Now we will provide you with some tasks you should do every week, although we know there might me even more.

Change your bed sheets.

Perhaps environmental bacteria like for example dust might not be that harmful but some of the other bacteria that accumulates during your sleep may be responsible for pimples, dandruff, and others. It is also good to take your time and wash your sheets in hot water which will prevent any other accumulation when washing them.

Vacuuming your house every week is something you should definitely add to your routine. This will prevent buildups, usually dust which can contain other bacteria, that can trigger respiratory problems or allergies for you and your family. While its recommendable to vacuum areas that are mainly frequented like the living room, it is also good to give other less trafficked areas a once-over. Carpets and rugs are important too so do not forget to vacuum them as well. Whilst doing this, be sure to not only do one pass but several passes over sections of the rug or carpet. This way you will ensure getting rid of all of the dust and dirt. You might consider doing this even more frequently if you have pets.

Cleaning your sinks

This might seem silly since sinks are places where you wash yourself or clean other kinds of stuff. However, this is even a task that you should try doing every day. They might look clean, but they can get really dirty, especially after washing our hands or brushing our teeth. Also, when it comes to your kitchen sink, handling and cleaning meats can also leave bacteria behind.

Dust tends to accumulate everywhere. Getting a good duster and removing the dust that collects on your surfaces and couches can prevent any breathing issues that might befall you or a relative. Trying to do this once a week can save you from having to do dusting more intensely if you do not.

Cleaning your bathrooms

The bathroom gathers a lot of bacteria. That is why you need to make sure you clean it every week by disinfecting the toilet and the sink. This will definitely keep the bacteria at bay. You can also keep an air freshener at hand and give your bathroom a fresh feel. However, do not confuse using the air freshener with cleaning since it smells nice. Make sure to disinfect first and then use your air freshener if you would like. If you’d like more thorough bathroom tips make sure to read our other blog post here.

Cleaning doorknobs

Now this is something that you might forget or overlook, but doorknobs tend to collect lots of bacteria. This happens especially in your kitchen and in your bathroom. These should be cleaned at least twice a week.

Spot cleaning.

Many areas of our house are used inevitably very often. That is why making sure to clean them weekly is a very good idea. Some of the items you should make sure to clean weekly include

  • Cleaning outdoor mats
  • Dusting and straightening books in bookshelves
  • Dusting picture frames
  • Change blinds in all of your rooms
  • Wipe your stovetop
  • Clean appliances in your kitchen
  • Take out the trash
  • Cleaning and wiping down walls

Cleaning is not tedious when your have a clear plan of what you are going to do so have that in mind. Usually, we tend to prolong things and thus cleaning once a month may be favorable for you. However, you should start thinking of the job that is accumulating for you. Try to adopt a new routine and change things up.
