Game changing tricks for Spring Cleaning

Nothing can feel as good and gratifying as coming home to a clean home. A home that sparkles and brings you joy. Since cleaning your home from top to bottom can be quite the heavy task, as well as time-consuming, consider making a clear schedule for each room. It does not matter if you only have a couple of minutes to clean or a week, the important thing is to organize clearly what you are going to do and how you are going to manage it. Make sure you get the spots that are usually left unmanaged like carpets, ceilings, and walls.

As much as the term coined spring cleaning is appreciated, you should be getting into the habit of regularly tidying up your home to prevent the strenuous deep clean come April. Are you not sure where you should begin? Well, there are plenty of lists online that may aid you when making your own personalized checklist or to-do list. However, we are here to provide you with a short list that may just be what your home needs. Try to get the spots you have neglected year-round and tackle them as required. Now, remember you do not have to finish everything in one day. You can organize your schedule according to what best suits you. We recommend taking time on the weekend to complete such tasks.

First begin with something simple yet in much need of organization and cleaning.

Cabinets

As time goes by dust can collect on your cabinets (bedrooms, kitchen, etc.) In your kitchen especially when you are a bit careless with your cooking and let the grease settle atop. Try to be mindful of what you do and always clean after yourself. It may seem tiresome but trust us, it will save you a ton of work when deep cleaning comes your way. In your bedrooms, dust can accumulate on your clothe cabinets when you dismiss cleaning or dusting your ceiling. Be mindful of certain details in order to avoid deep cleaning areas that would not really need it.

Countertops

If you have granite countertops, in order to avoid getting stains you should get them sealed right after they are installed. Once they have been sealed properly, you will notice that water droplets tend to form when on its surface. Still, try to be careful with spills and any other accidents. Clean them as you go.

Wood Floors

You might think you should be mopping your floors every single week, but mopping could be tarnishing them instead. The preferred method is to clean them every one or two months with a floor cleaner spray for wooden material and try to spot-clean your floors as well. If you have plants, use trivets under them to avoid any damage provoked by water and with your furniture, use any kind of protector if you can to avoid scratching your floors.

Bedding

When it comes to your bed it is very important to take care of it accordingly. After all, its where your body rests everyday and thus it must be properly cleaned. Your pillowcases and sheets should be washed at the very least once a week. Make sure to read your labels depending on the material of your sheets since they may need to be washed differently. Your comforter, if you prefer, can be dry cleaned once every two weeks. This depends on you and how you manage your things.

Tiled Surface

Tiled surfaces can get tough, especially since they have lots of crevices separating them. A suggestion is to clean your kitchen and bathroom tiles with a special cleaner, one that has neutral pH. However, if you are the kind of person that prefers homemade things you can also use baking soda and mix it with water. About a ½ cup of baking soda with 2 gallons of water should do the trick and it is also plenty of solution to clean your tiles. You can decide to clean with a sponge or go right ahead with a mop. For stains that will definitely not come out, you can call us.

Carpets

As we mentioned in our previous article, which you can read here, carpets are usually in highly trafficked areas. However, experts recommend cleaning your carpets every four or five years. Why? The conclusion is that over cleaning them may ruin them just as fast. Overall, it adds to the wear and tear of the rug. However, that does not mean you should not treat stain spots. You can easily grab some club soda and remove them. The trick with these kinds of stains is to act quickly before it becomes even worse.
