We have compiled a few tips that will help you maintain your home sparkly this spring-cleaning season. Make sure to build up your cleaning care routine in order to deep clean your home accordingly with the right materials.

Be sure to wait for an overcast day to clean your windows. Why? Direct sunlight while you are cleaning them can lead to streaks. Start on the side of the house that receives more shade. Take off your blinds or just part them out of the way and wash your windows with your glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth. You can them put your blinds back on or let them down and dust them with a duster. Finish them off by vacuuming the shades.

Microwaves do tend to accumulate some stain. Fill a large bowl (that is microwave safe) with a cup of water and a chopped lemon or orange and put it inside. This can also work with several tablespoons of vinegar. Turn on your appliance to high and let the solution sit until it boils, and the window appears steamy. Let it cool for 5 to 10 minutes before opening. Remove the bowl and wipe the inside of your microwave with a sponge or a cloth. This should make stains much easier to remove.

Kitchen sink

Kitchen sinks, as we have mentioned before on our previous articles, tend to get really dirty and can accumulate a lot of bacteria without you even noticing. Chop a lemon in half with a cup of hot water. Use it to clean the sides of the sink and then let it run down the drain to get rid of any unwanted odors.

Shower curtains

We know you have been thinking about it or at least it has dawned on you that your shower curtains may need a little cleaning. Stick your shower curtains along with a couple of bath towels on gentle with your best detergent. Let it hang dry until it is dry before taking a shower, otherwise it may get a humid smell. To keep your curtain cleaner longer try to spray it a couple of times with an all-purpose cleaner that contains bleach. Let the shower rinse it off, before you take a shower of course.

Pans and pots

You may get lots of issues with you your cookware. After all, they are subjected to everyday use and thus may get a few burned-on spots or other kinds of residue here and there. However, worry not. You can get rid of burned-on residues by adding water and dish liquid soap to your pot or pan and letting it simmer for a little while on a stovetop. Afterwards, use a sponge of a pad to remove parts that have remained stuck. Also, did you know that ketchup can help dissolve tarnish on copper pots? You juts have to massage the sauce on the surface with a pinch of salt and it will easily be removed.

Shower drain

To keep your drains fresh and help water free flow through, you can mix ½ cup of baking soda and ¼ cup of table salt. Once you have the mixture, you can pour it down the drain and follow it up with a cup of heated vinegar. The mixture will foam so you should let it stand for 15 minutes. Later on, you can follow it with hot tap water for at least a minute.

Make sure you pull away your furniture from walls and vacuum thoroughly behind and under them. Afterwards, you can grab your duster and dust away the cushions. Switch the upholstery tool in your vacuum and also go over both sides of your cushions. You can also remove them and vacuum underneath. Try to get a smaller tool to remove the gunk along the stitches.
